Ethics For the duration of our service, we swear that we will put our country and our cause ahead of everything but our family and our faith.
It is a sad commentary on the quality of our public officials that we need to discuss this any further, but part of what this oath means:
- We will not lie
- We will not cheat.
- We will not use our political office for any kind of financial gain or to satisfy personal desires.
- We will govern with the interests of the American people first.
So for a few examples:
- if you are a Congressman sending lurid emails to underage Congressional pages, you are out from and will be shunned by the Fire Fifty Caucus.
- if you are a Congressman straight up taking bribes from defense contractors, you are out from and will be shunned by the Fire Fifty Caucus.
- if you are a Congressman video-taped by the FBI taking a cash bribe and then using National Guard resources to go get it from your freezer while people are dying in Hurricane Katrina, you are out from and will be shunned by the Fire Fifty Caucus.
- if you are a Congressman whose former staffers have set up an elaborate money laundering scheme to get money from the government through numerous cut-outs to you, you are out from and will be shunned by the Fire Fifty Caucus.
- if you are a Presidential Candidate who fathers a child with your mistress while your wife has cancer during the campaign, you should never show your face in public again. Get back under that rock.
In all of the cases listed above the Republican or Democratic Parties covered for these folks. If you betray your oath you will have betrayed all of us, and we will abandon you.
