Fiscal Sanity We will restore fiscal sanity to the Federal government. We are going to wipe out 200 years of political back-scratching, corruption, fraud, waste, and abuse and put every program on a road to fiscal solvency or elimination. We will spend fewer actual dollars in 2011 than DC does in 2010, and fewer in 2012 than in 2011. We will be running a budget surplus within 5 years and we’ll pay off all of our national debts within 10 years after that. Then we can give all of the money we used to spend on interest payments to wealthy foreigners back to the American taxpayer.
There is so much than can be said here that we are not going to say much, you know what kind of fiscal catastrophes are here and developing soon in the United States. In no particular order, we have
Out of control discretionary spending - It is hard to believe that our politicians put their personal political interests ahead of your children and your grand-children but they do every time they spend money now and lay off the bill for the future. The most recent madness is
- Wall Street bailouts, funded by you
- UAW and Government take-over of Chrysler and GM, funded by you
- Stimulus package, funded by you
- A budget with 5,000 earmarks (explicit special interest deals) funded by you
- Cash For Clunkers, funded by you
- Cap and Trade, to be funded by you
- Health Care, to be funded by you
- Everything that is run "off budget". What the heck does that actually mean? We sent Enron people to jail for putting things "off-budget".
Out of control "mandatory" spending - Again, while it is hard to believe, politicians in the past have put their personal political interests ahead of their constituent's children and grand-children interests, and those bills are now due and payble by you. This list of troubled major programs is not exhaustive
- Medicare
- Medicaid
- Social Security
- Pension Guarantees
- Tax system cruftiness - cruftiness is a programmer's term, meaning software that has been patched and corrected and changed and forced to fit in new places, resulting in something that functions (barely) but is extremely brittle. Our tax system really is the result of a few fundamental assumptions, encrufted with 200 years of political back-scratching, corruption, fraud, waste, and abuse. We all know how it works; rather than build and sell things or services to make money, some people bribe congressmen. It's very cost-effective. Our 10-ft tall tax code (not sure about that) is 500 people cutting 100 deals a year for 200 years. This code needs to be wiped out and replaced with a clean, non-corrupt tax system.
