New Members - Getting Started

Thanks for joining Fire Fifty. Our objective is to elect Independents and we hope you can contribute. We have a list of frequently asked questions FAQs. We suggest that you look at The Races, pick one just to start, and go to that web page. You can read what's there and you can log in and edit the page to improve it. Write about the district, the incumbent (smartly, which is respectfully but strongly), write about potential candidates who live in that district. If you live in the district we really need your help here. We need to recruit candidates; ground-swells start from your initiative in nominating good people and then promoting them. One district you can take a look at as an example is California 18.

About editing, please don't worry, you can't break anything(permanently). We can always restore a page. If you want to practice editing before you work on a real page, you can go to the SandBox. For more information on how to edit, please see the WikiWikiWeb Overview.

How to nominate a candidate.

  1. Go to the district page, practice example at Freedonia 13;
  2. Click on the gray edit button, lower left.
  3. You may go through a password login.
  4. You are now at that page in edit mode.
  5. Add a sentence at the bottom of the page writing "I, Elvis Mozart, nominate [Your Candidate] for this district.", replacing Elvis Mozart with your name or user name as you prefer and Your Candidate with the name of your nominee. The square brackets around the candidates name are special to the software and will later create a new page with that candidates name.
  6. Preview your work by clicking on the Preview button below the editing window. You should see something that looks like the sentence above with the candidates name in bold, followed by a tiny question mark. If so, you can save your edits; if not, make sure the brackets are correct.
  7. After you've saved, click on the tiny question mark. A web page with your candidates name will be created and you can edit it to tell us about the candidate.
