Our Children We will not wait any longer to for DC to fix our schools. We’ve lost two generations to the Big City Machine union/patronage systems masquerading as schools, and we are not losing one more child.
Our educational system is driven by the political desires of the Big City political machines. To get elected, politicians need people and money. To get people and money, they give some people your money. It's really very cost-effective (for them; you of course are paying that tab). The people they give money to like money, and form groups to make sure that they keep getting money. It's really quite cushy, and the benefits are excellent(for them; again, for you, not so much). The Big City Political machines exist to deliver some services - Police, Fire, Public Works,Education. The Machine politician sees every single one of these not as a need of constituents, but as an opportunity run the get elected-with-your-money scheme described above.
Which brings us to our schools. This has been going on for a long time, 10,000 politicians cutting 10 deals a year for 100 years, across the country. The net result is an education system designed to get politicians elected and people on the taxpayer payroll. Actual education of your children might be priority number three. The result is an unfair system that fails many children. And as bad as that failure is for that individual child, the long term costs to all of us are staggering. Of course, to be fair to people working in the system, undoubtedly most really care about education. At this point all they have to do is pay their dues, the Machine does the rest.
We believe the primary responsibility for educating children is with parents. We will assist parents financially, by providing a $10,000 per year credit for every child (More for special needs kids). They can use that credit at any accredited school. We will provide on a Federal level an extremely limited basic education accreditation requirement(literally reading, writing, and arithmetic). As long as that basic ground is covered, a school can be accredited regardless of focus: secular or religious.
- If you want to home school your kids you can, but we can't give you the credit.
- Any accredited school can operate with a combination of the federal credits, tuition, or local taxes. It allows public and private schools to co-exist, while failing schools are abandoned as a net result of many individual free choices.
- The Big City machines can keep running their scams on the people who live in the cities as long as those voters keep electing these corrupt Machines. The rest of us don't have to sacrifice our children's future for it any more.
