DumpDede is a blog dedicated to the face-off between the national Republican Club and the Tea Party Movement. The Party has a stark choice: endorse the candidate that supports your principles but is not a Republican, or get behind the conservative in this race, Doug Hoffman. FireFifty strongly supports Hoffman and repeats our call for Scozzafava to resign and endorse Hoffman.
Dana Loesch from DumpDede is, as usual, right on point: I’ve an idea. I’d like to give the GOP – all of them, every official, every candidate – exactly one week to pledge their dedication to conservative principles by denouncing the nomination of Scozzafava and calling for a true embrace of conservatism. If they do, yay. For those who maintain their yellow silence, it’s open season.
You can bring us back from the brink, NY-23. Do the right thing.

The special election to replace a Republican congressman has become a 3 way race, with the “Progressive” Democratic candidate leading the squishy Republican candidate by 4 points, while she leads the Conservative candidate Doug Hoffman by 6 points.
From the Washington Times:
A new Siena Research Institute poll released Thursday found Democrat Bill Owens, a Plattsburgh lawyer and political neophyte, leading the race for the first time, 4 percentage points ahead of Mrs. Scozzafava and 10 points ahead of Mr. Hoffman in the tightening three-way contest.
The Tea Party Movement strongly supports Doug Hoffman and calls on Mrs. Scozzafava to suspend her campaign and endorse him. Mrs. Scozzafava’s supporters can and will support Hoffman; otherwise she will be electing a Democrat, adding another foot soldier to Nancy Pelosi’s trampling on the American Way of Life. We implore Mrs. Scozzafava to put her Country ahead of her personal ambitions and the tremendous pressure being brought on her by the National Republican Party and step aside.
Support Doug

From Mary Katherine Ham at the Weekly Standard:
Meet the People Who Were Passed Over for Obama
Sima Samar, women’s rights activist in Afghanistan: “With dogged persistence and at great personal risk, she kept her schools and clinics open in Afghanistan even during the most repressive days of the Taliban regime, whose laws prohibited the education of girls past the age of eight. When the Taliban fell, Samar returned to Kabul and accepted the post of Minister for Women’s Affairs.”
Ingrid Betancourt: French-Colombian ex-hostage held for six years.
“Dr. Denis Mukwege: Doctor, founder and head of Panzi Hospital in Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo. He has dedicated his life to helping Congolese women and girls who are victims of gang rape and brutal sexual violence.”
Handicap International and Cluster Munition Coalition: “These organizations are recognized for their consistently serious efforts to clean up cluster bombs, also known as land mines. Innocent civilians are regularly killed worldwide because the unseen bombs explode when stepped upon.”
“Hu Jia, a human rights activist and an outspoken critic of the Chinese government, who was sentenced last year to a three-and-a-half-year prison term for ‘inciting subversion of state power.’”
“Wei Jingsheng, who spent 17 years in Chinese prisons for urging reforms of China’s communist system. He now lives in the United States.”

Are you worried that supporting an Independent will elect Democrats? Do you still think we should count on the Republicans to stop the “Progressive” juggernaut? What is the difference?

Only 16% of Independents approve of the job Congress is doing. Isn’t it time we sent some of these professional politicians out to the real world to see how we have been making a living? Let’s elect some Independents and get America back on track.

“It doesn’t smell like sulfur anymore. It smells like ….. hope”.
That was what Hugo Chavez said at the UN this morning. And what does hope smell like?

By Fall of 2007 the conventional wisdom developed that it was going to be a blow-out for the Democrats and big gains for the “Progressives”. Smart investors know that elections have consequences, and the world investor class began to adjust to the new American reality: upcoming absurdly out-of-control deficit spending. They began, slowly at first and then more and more steadily, and then in droves, to adjust their American exposure. As the financial world shifted, the government induced mortgage fiasco became acute. Perversely, as conditions worsened, the “Progressives” electoral prospects began to get even rosier – state media was in top form. After Axelrod, Jarrettt, and Father Pflager worked their little dog-and-pony show to get President Obama out of the nasty spotlight of Rev. Wright’s racism, it was clear that the left was actually going to put a “Progressive” in the White House, with a big margin and a majority “Progressive” caucus in the House. On the Senate side, Chuck Schumer saw a potential filibuster-proof majority. In summer of 2008 Chuck Schumer started the bank runs with IndyMac. The panic was really in the air now, and our political class acted exactly as the early, smart money investors expected: stunning idiocy coupled with an unlimited ability to spend our money and push the consequences off onto our children.
We are still on that vicious feedback mechanism, and will be until the “Progressives” are checked. The only way to provide some balance in 2010 is to take the House away from Nancy Pelosi and the “Progressive” caucus.
